Welcome & Greeting Rev. Matt Franks

Welcome to Worship with us here at Castle Rock FUMC. Our Mission is to share the light and love of God within our community and beyond. One of the ways we live into our mission is that in worship we connect to one another and to how God is speaking to us through, prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Let us connect to one another by greeting each other.

Hymn TFWS 2040 Awesome God

Our God is an awesome God; he reigns from heaven above

with wisdom, pow'r, and love. Our God is an awesome God!

Call To Worship Liturgist

Leader: Jesus spoke to the people in parables, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed. Smallest of seeds, yet greatest of trees; home for the birds of the air.

People: Let our faith bloom and grow in this time of worship; let this place be a shelter and home for all who are weary.

Leader: The kingdom of heaven is like yeast, kneaded into flour, that it might rise and feed many.

People: Let the community gathered here increase in faith and devotion, so that we might nourish the world with the good news of God.

Leader: The kingdom of heaven is like hidden treasure, buried in a field until it is discovered in joy.

People: Let this time of worship be an uncovering of God’s mysteries. God is here! Christ is revealed! The Spirit lives among us! Let us worship God!

Music: Talking About The Love of God Musical Trio sung by Linda Pottenger, Julie Bailey, Nancy Docksey

We Pray Together

Congregational Prayer Liturgist

All: Eternal God, as we gather in this time and place, we are reminded of your mighty works amid the great drama of human history. We praise you for never giving up on us, for loving us with a love from which nothing can separate us. May we become more aware of your activity and presence, that we will see you more clearly at work in the midst of all the pain and joy of our lives. Amen.

The Pastoral Prayer Rev. Matt Franks

The Lord’s Prayer found in the UMH 895

All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Hymn No. 408 The Gift Of Love

1. Though I may speak with bravest fire, and have the gift to all inspire,

and have not love, my words are vain, as sounding brass, and hopeless gain.

2. Though I may give all I possess, and striving so my love profess,

but not be given by love within, the profit soon turns strangely thin.

3. Come, Spirit, come, our hearts control, our spirits long to be made whole.

Let inward love guide every deed; by this we worship, and are freed.

Hymn of Response UMH 384 Love Divine, All Loves Excelling

1. Love divine, all loves excelling, joy of heaven, to earth come down; fix in us thy humble

dwelling; all thy faithful mercies crown! Jesus, thou art all compassion, pure, unbounded love

thou art; visit us with thy salvation; enter every trembling heart.

4. Finish, then, thy new creation; pure and spotless let us be. Let us see thy great salvation

perfectly restored in thee; changed from glory into glory, till in heaven we take our place, till

we cast our crowns before thee, lost in wonder, love, and praise.

Benediction

Quote of the Week

Love without holiness disintegrates into sentimentality. Personal integrity is lost. But holiness without love is not holiness at all. In spite of its label, it displays harshness, judgmentalism, a critical spirit, and all its capacity for discrimination ends in nit-picking and divisiveness.

Weekly Prayer

Lord, we thank you that our churches are like big families. Lord, let your spirit of reconciliation blow over all the earth. Let Christians live your love. Lord, we praise you in Europe's cathedrals, in America's offerings, And in our African songs of praise. Lord, we thank you that we have brothers and sisters in all the world. Be with them that make peace. Amen.
