The time frame will be approximately 1-4 pm.

WOMEN’S CHRISTMAS Saturday, November 30 10 am – 2 pm in Fellowship Hall

The theme for this year’s Women’s Christmas is Wise Women Curious About Joy. There is a custom from Ireland of women coming together to pause and step back from whatever traditionally keeps them busy and hurried during this season to spend time in reflection before diving into what the new season holds. In that spirit, you are invited to come rest, reflect, refocus, and renew.

Feel free to invite a friend. The retreat will be led by Julie Bailey and Rev. Brenda Lear. Lunch will be provided. Sign up at the Welcome Center or by emailing Rev. Brenda at b.clear.72@gmail.com.

Starlighting: The Town of Castle Rock will host a Star Lighting event featuring a tree in Festival Park. Watch for details on the time and date in November. If you have decorated stars to contribute, please bring them to the church by November 10 for weatherproofing, leaving them at the Narthex table. Thanks to everyone assisting with this project.

Grief Share The loss of a loved one significantly impacts life, making grief challenging. The GriefShare program, starting on November 11, will be held at the Church on Mondays from 2:00-3:00 pm for 13 weeks, facilitated by Charlene Smythe, a retired United Methodist Pastor.

The sessions will take place in the church library, with assistance available for transportation. Participants need to purchase a $20 workbook, with scholarships offered. The program will continue into the new year with holiday breaks. For registration and information, contact Charlene at 719-459-3101.

Giving Tree will be up next week.

In December we will have a Reverse Advent Calendar for Help and Hope

Join us for the Hanging of the Greens on Dec. 1st! Help decorate the Church between Worship Services for a festive celebration!

The Book: The Christmas Letters by Magrey R deVega

In "The Christmas Letters," Magrey deVega invites readers to explore the miracle of Christ's birth through the New Testament Epistles, which reflect the early church's efforts to comprehend and celebrate the Incarnation. This Advent, by engaging with letters like Romans, 1 John, Philippians, and Colossians, you can deepen your understanding of Jesus as both fully human and fully divine, and experience the profound meaning of His coming.

In person Monday December 2 2024 to December 23 2024 6:30 to 8:00PM

Zoom session Friday November 29 to December 20th 6:30 to 8:00PM

Denver Brass Concert  Updated INFO

Sunday afternoon November 24 at 2:30 pm

Bethany Lutheran Church, 4500 E Hampden Ave, Cherry Hills Village

Denver Brass and organist Joseph Galema promise a cornucopia overflowing with organ pipes, tiny trumpets, and heralding horns. Donations of canned goods benefitting MetroCaring will be accepted before the show. Denver Brass reminds us that “The feeling of Thanksgiving is one of overwhelming appreciation for friends and loved ones, and the bounty of love and joy they provide.” This concert, which is also offered on Saturday evening at 7 pm (same location) features a commissioned piece honoring Joe Docksey (Nancy’s husband), who was the Director of the Lamont School of Music at DU for 23 years and a gifted member of the Denver Brass. Tickets are available online for both concerts.

Advent begins Dec. 1st

This Advent, as we prepare our hearts and lives for the arrival of Christ, we are called to let go of fear and embrace the transforming gifts that God offers us: hope, peace, joy, and love. In a world where fear can hold us back, this series invites us to journey with those who first welcomed Jesus, and to hear the angel's message spoken into our own lives: "Do not be afraid." Each week, we’ll explore how this message was received and responded to, and how it challenges us to live boldly in anticipation of God’s promises.

Scripture and Quote

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that

the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full

effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.~James 1: 2-4

“Someone  I loved once gave me/ a box full of darkness.

It took me years to understand / that this, too, was a gift.”
