The Time and Talent Auction and Luncheon
In Fellowship Hall on Sunday, October 20th, after the Combined Worship Service at 10:45 a.m. You will enjoy delicious lunch, prepared by our Youth, and have an opportunity to purchase and enjoy items graciously donated by our Church family.
This is our Church’s annual fundraiser for:
1) our youth’s mission trip;
2) Trustees to purchase equipment for the Church;
3) the Mission Team to assist local mission(s). Our goal this year is to raise at least $10,000.
This is an opportunity to share your time and/or special talent. Items/services that have been donated in the past include hosting a lunch, dinner, or event for several people at your home; preparing your homemade jelly, cakes, and breads; purchasing a round of golf or restaurant gift certificates; lunch or dinner at your home for a group; donating time to garden, paint or other home repairs; sharing your artistic or craft products; or providing a week at your timeshare.
Begin thinking now of how you or your group can contribute to this special event.
Blue pledge forms are available at the Welcome Desk. The pledge forms need to be returned by Thursday, October 17th. They can be placed on the offering plate or returned to the Church office.

A Note from Bishop Kristin Stoneking
Greetings Mountain Sky annual conference. It’s Bishop Kristin Stoneking coming to you form the Eastern Plains of Colorado where I am with the cabinet for a few days. So grateful to be here on the high prairie which reminds me of my growing up years in Kansas. I want to share with you an update on our United Methodist and conference response to the impacts of hurricanes Milton and Helene.
As you know, the devastation from Western North Carolina on down through Florida has been significant. Bishop Tom Berlin of Florida and Bishop Ken Carter of Western North Carolina, though the United Methodist Committee on Relief, have asked for our help. I’m so grateful for the immediate response of our Mountain Sky folks who have completely filled four response teams, two who will be travelling to affected areas in Florida in November and two others in December. We may have additional teams in those months as well.
If you are interested in taking part in a response team, you can contact Conference Superintendent Betty Nguyen who will forward it to our Emergency Response teams coordinator Jim Robison-Cox.
We in the West are no strangers to disaster. We have benefitted tremendously from the care, love and response of the denomination. In addition to teams, you can help through financial donations to UMCOR using the Advance number 901670 (Link in comments below). As always, your prayers and concerns lifted up on behalf of all impacted by these disasters are coveted and needed.
Thank you so much. God bless you and be well.
Cookie Walk set for December 8: The annual United Women in Faith will once a again be offering cookies for sale on December 8 from 9am to 12 noon. Cookie bakers and cookie purchasers will be needed. Let’s make this the best one ever.
Denver Brass Concert “Pipes and Horns of Plenty” features a commissioned piece honoring Joe Docksey (Nancy’s husband), who was the Director of the Lamont School of Music at DU for 23 years and a gifted member of the Denver Brass. Tickets are available online for the Saturday evening concert on November 23 and for the Sunday afternoon concert on November 24. Denver Brass and organist Joseph Galema promise a cornucopia overflowing with organ pipes, tiny trumpets, and heralding horns. Donations of canned goods benefitting MetroCaring will be accepted before the show. Denver Brass reminds us that “The feeling of Thanksgiving is one of overwhelming appreciation for friends and loved ones, and the bounty of love and joy they provide.”

King Soopers/Safeway Gift Cards:
Did you know that 5% of your grocery purchases can be returned to our church if you have a Safeway gift card to load and reload OR have signed on with King Soopers and designated FUMCCR as your nonprofit organization? Did you know these funds help fund projects in and around the church? Would you like to help bring us back into the $2-3K column?
If you frequent Safeway, simply purchase a grocery card from Theresa Kepple and add money. That card becomes the card you use to purchase groceries. If you wish to use King Soopers, go to KingSoopers.com/CommunityRewards and follow Step #1 to create an account and Step #2 to register our organization (FUMCCR). You will need to add our NPO number which is NPO#QM168.

Quote & Prayer of the Week
Fred Rogers: “There’s a world of difference between insisting on someone doing something and establishing an atmosphere where they can grow into wanting to do it.”
Loving God, We thank You for creating each of us uniquely, as part of Your divine body. Teach us to live with respect, honoring the worth and dignity of all people. Fill our hearts with kindness, compassion, humility, and love, so that we may reflect Your grace in all our relationships. Help us to see Your image in others and to treat them with the same care and respect that You show us. Guide us to be vessels of peace and unity in this world, creating a tapestry of love wherever we go.
In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
Loving God we lift up to you…
